HIGH LEVEL GOALS Inventory Visibility allows Inventory & Category Managers to be proactive than reactive based on real time and accurate inventory levels. This will prevent lost sales, customers aggravated by over-promising, giving away margin due to markdowns and expedited shipping charges, carrying excess safety stock and limited ability to enter new sales channels.

MY CONTRIBUTION
I was a primary UX designer for 13 months from the start. I was the main contributor for Item/SKU detail, alert screens, alert settings, safety stock, fulfillment options, move inventory flow and actions users should be able to take. I also lead dashboard design customization task for three primary scenarios.
OUTCOME After numerous design review sessions with customers, the team felt confident with design. However, as we had a new development team, the proposed design could not be consumed. Product management and development decided to break the design into phases for partial implementation.

Inventory managers decide scalability of Inventory dashboard. For geographic location users can select large region or e.g.) North America, US and/or Canada, EU or Asia. We also had to cover all common use cases that many inventory managers need to view State > City > Single store. Same applied to porducts from high level to lower level.. Categories/departments > Sub-catetories > Items > SKUs
Customizable dashboard showing important matrix that matters to category managers or inventory planners. Prior to this dashboard the user had been thru a quick set up to decide what are categories or department(s) he/she is interested in monitoring. An user should be able to view inventory of “Women’s Jackets” in a single node or the entire region. The solution had to be very scalable.
Barchart is interactive that user can drill down into subcategory to see detail inventory pictures such as overall demand by channel and top SKUs of subcategory. User can click a SKU/Item to get to SKU/Item detail screen.
This is a product detail screen where a user can start taking actions such as 1) moving inventory, 2) change fulfillment options and 3) adjusting safety stock. A user can toggle the blue switch to show item level view/parent product. Three actions were the most common actions our sponsor users required from luxury high end retailers to home improvement. However each of them had different rules and industry specific requirement due to their the nature of business.
an item level performance in one store, 001 Boston Downtown.
This view shows a node level detail. All inventory information for “Boston Store” . User should be able to toggle between Item and SKU level easily. This was one of the common requirements from sponsor users.
*Item is higher level than SKU. Item can be “Reese Motor Jacket”. Within this item there can be many SKUs even up to hundred. A SKU is variant of an item e.g., “Reese Motor jacket, Navy, Small Size”
Three most common use cases. 1) All store operation turned off due to weather crisis or unexpected event. 2) When a store has high traffic of customers it can be hidden for “Ship from Store” to allocate more resource for “Pickup”. 3) When a store reached max capacity new coming orders can be stopped or re-directed to another store.
Allow Fred to move inventory where the item is high demand. In this way, he can place inventory where it is most profitable before the item gets too close to the end of life cycle or mark down date.
Threshold setting for high demand SKUs based on criteria. Demand settings allows the user to set alerts for SKUs that are high or low velocity.
